Who we are

My Journey: From Prison to Purpose

At the age of 16, I found myself standing in a courtroom, facing the reality of a prison sentence. It felt like the end of the world. I was young, scared, and completely lost. The years ahead seemed like an unbreakable chain, binding me to a future filled with regret and missed opportunities. Prison was everything you might imagine—a harsh, unforgiving place where hope seemed like a distant memory. But in the depths of that darkness, something unexpected happened. I began to reflect on the choices I had made, the circumstances that led me there, and, most importantly, the person I wanted to become. It wasn’t easy. Every day was a struggle, not just to survive but to maintain a sense of humanity in an environment designed to strip it away. I was faced with countless obstacles—broken relationships, a lack of trust in myself and others, and the overwhelming weight of a criminal record that would follow me long after my release. But through it all, I held onto a small, flickering flame of hope. I knew that I couldn’t let my past define my future. I started to educate myself, reading every book I could get my hands on, learning about the world beyond those prison walls, and discovering new ways to think and live. Slowly, I began to see a path forward. That path led me to my true passion: helping others who were walking the same road I had once traveled. I realized that my experience—my mistakes, my struggles, my growth—could serve a greater purpose. I could use what I had learned to support others, to show them that redemption is possible, and that a better life is within reach, no matter how far gone it might seem. After my release, I committed myself to this mission. I founded *A Felons Company*, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering individuals with criminal records to rebuild their lives. My journey had shown me the importance of second chances, and I wanted to be a part of creating those opportunities for others. Today, I work every day to break down the barriers that hold people back, offering them the resources, mentorship, and support they need to succeed. It’s not just about giving them a fresh start—it’s about helping them realize their potential, just as I realized mine. I know firsthand how difficult the journey can be, but I also know that change is possible. My story is one of transformation, not because I was special, but because I chose to believe in something better for myself. Now, I’m dedicated to helping others find that belief within themselves, and to walk beside them as they reclaim their lives and build a brighter future.
